Forever Yours, Julita: A story of poetry, love, and betrayal

Tallahassee Hispanic Theater presents its new production: Forever Yours, Julita, a play by Puerto Rican playwright Roberto Ramos-Perea. This play deals with important issues of artistic integrity, male/female roles in Latin American society, and Puerto Rico’s relationship with the United States. The play begins in 1914. Julia is 19. She has written her first book of poetry and is seeking recognition. That night she attends a party given by a well-known poet, Luis, who is celebrating an important prize he has won. Luis receives the young woman who gives him a copy of her book of poetry to obtain his opinion. A no-holds-barred relationship starts up between them: disciple, political enemy, rival poet and lover. Their relationship will continue through their lives until the end of the play in 1942.

Roberto Ramos-Perea was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, on August 13th, 1959. He is a playwright, screenwriter, actor, director, professor, and critic. He has staged and published more than a hundred plays in Puerto Rico and other countries, such as: Japan, Poland, United States, Spain, Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, and Mexico. His plays have been translated into English, French, Polish, Portuguese and Japanese. He has received many awards, and was recognized as one of the best playwrights in Latin America when he received the Tirso de Molina Award in December 1992 for his play Miénteme más (Lie to Me Some More).

The performances will be at the Monticello Opera House, November 17th and 18th at 8:00 p.m.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the door or at www.monticellooperahouse.org

This is just placeholder text. Don’t be alarmed, this is just here to fill up space since your finalized copy isn’t ready yet. Once we have your content finalized, we’ll replace this placeholder text with your real content.

Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.

Traditionally our industry has used Lorem Ipsum, which is placeholder text written in Latin. Unfortunately, not everyone is familiar with Lorem Ipsum and that can lead to confusion. I can’t tell you how many times clients have asked me why their website is in another language!

There are other placeholder text alternatives like Hipster Ipsum, Zombie Ipsum, Bacon Ipsum, and many more. While often hilarious, these placeholder passages can also lead to much of the same confusion.

If you’re curious, this is Website Ipsum. It was specifically developed for the use on development websites. Other than being less confusing than other Ipsum’s, Website Ipsum is also formatted in patterns more similar to how real copy is formatted on the web today.
