How to Be a Student of Excellence

How to Be a Student of Excellence

(Adaptation to article of Oscar Avila)

For a student, school may be one of the hardest things to deal with.  Learning how to study and get along with your classmates will make the experience much easier.

  1. Like all exceptional students, you must pay attention. When your teacher is giving a lesson, take notes and, if you do not understand something, raise your hand and ask questions. The more questions you do, the smarter you will become.
  1. Review your notes when you have free time.
  1. Take some time to write subject matter problems to solve, or you can ask someone to write one for you. Just remember, it does not hurt to review what you have learned.
  1. Do, your homework. Teachers assign your homework for a reason: that is, to review what you learned that day. Do as much homework as you can in school because you have your teacher nearby if you need help. Be sure not to rush your homework, so that you can check it.
  1. Prepare yourself. Bring everything you need to school: books, binders, pens, etc. It’s a good idea to always bring everything you need.
  1. Get Organized. Being organized at school is very important. Keep a folder for each subject, using colors to identify your folders.
  1. Study. It is a good idea to start studying a few days before the test. Make a study schedule. Write a weekly schedule for your exam and find free time. Always remember, use your time wisely.
  1. Start reading more. If you’re not a reader yet, start your level and seek to improve. You may not know it, but by reading more challenging and complicated books, you will expand your vocabulary.
  1. Ask your parents or older siblings to review your notes and create a mini test three days before your actual exam.
  1. If your mind is not working properly, then do not be discouraged. Just focus on your work and you will succeed.
  1. Using “mind maps” can be useful in understanding difficult subjects.
  1. Keep ALL your electronic devices (cell phone, iPod, laptop, etc.) away from you, they will cause distractions.

This is just placeholder text. Don’t be alarmed, this is just here to fill up space since your finalized copy isn’t ready yet. Once we have your content finalized, we’ll replace this placeholder text with your real content.

Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.

Traditionally our industry has used Lorem Ipsum, which is placeholder text written in Latin. Unfortunately, not everyone is familiar with Lorem Ipsum and that can lead to confusion. I can’t tell you how many times clients have asked me why their website is in another language!

There are other placeholder text alternatives like Hipster Ipsum, Zombie Ipsum, Bacon Ipsum, and many more. While often hilarious, these placeholder passages can also lead to much of the same confusion.

If you’re curious, this is Website Ipsum. It was specifically developed for the use on development websites. Other than being less confusing than other Ipsum’s, Website Ipsum is also formatted in patterns more similar to how real copy is formatted on the web today.
